It is 15 km from the city center. The college is affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad. The college is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation and is ISO 9001:2000 certified. CBIT is ranked among the top 20 private engineering colleges in India by Outlook. Seven branches of engineering have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, New Delhi, who have visited the campus. It is also the first ISO 9001:2000 certified Engineering Institution in the state. CBIT had an international center (ic-CBIT) offering a BTECH-HND (Twinning Programme) in Electronics and Telecommunications in collaboration with Wolverhampton University and Dudley College, United Kingdom. This program is currently discontinued. History The college was established in 1979. The institute, (affiliated to Osmania University), began with three undergraduate programmes with an intake of 200 students. By 2007 this had grown to nine undergraduate and seven postgraduate courses with a total intake of 900 students. Students of CBIT are involved in the ISRO [1] design and successful launch. Campus There are labs and computer centers within all the blocks of the college. There is a library and information center, sports and indoor and outdoor games. Admissions The college admits undergraduate students through the state-wide EAMCET exam conducted every year. It offers the Bachelors in Engineering(BE) courses in: Bio-Technology Engineering (BT) Chemical Engineering (CHEM) Civil Engineering (CIV) Computer Science Engineering (CSE) Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE)] Industrial Production Engineering (IPE) Information Technology Engineering (IT) Mechanical Engineering (ME) The Masters in Technology (MTech) course is offered to CSE students. Masters in Engineering (ME) courses are offered in the CIVIL, ECE and MECH streams . The college also offers Master in Business Administration (MBA) and Master in Computer Applications (MCA) courses through its department of management. Apart from the regular undergraduate program the college also has an International Center (IC-CBIT) that offers a dual degree programs with foreign universities in the streams of Engineering. Intake: 660 students are offered seats in undergraduate courses every year through EAMCET. Through GATE, MTech and ME courses are offered to about 104 students. Through ICET, Management Courses are available to about 120 students. Sports in the Fest are basketball, football, cricket, badminton, volleyball, and track and field events. [[2] Student Activities The college holds the cultural fest CARPE DIEM every 2 years, and the inter-department fest, "Shruti" every year. Each branch has its own tech-fest scheduled at the beginning of each year. Reunion Day for the alumni is held every year on 25 December.[3] Chaitanya Smruti is the alumni association of CBIT, established in 1984. By organizing reunions when past students pay a visit to their alma mater and met their friends, Chaitanya Smruti helps retain the bond between alumni and college. The association has an international chapter in the USA. CBIT USA. The association organizes the Reunion and a biennial cultural fest.
