He was born in Montreal, Canada, and grew up in Utah. He went to Rowland Hall-St. Mark's School. He formed the band with fellow student Keith Murray at Pomona College, Claremont, California, in 1997, after meeting to watch Dawson’s Creek in Cain's room.[1] Cain is a very humorous character, possessing a wild abstract sense of humour, often confusing the interviewer with jokes in interviews and with bandmate Murray entertaining the crowd at gigs with their top banter between songs. Chris currently uses a Gibson Ripper Bass Guitar, with a Bad Cat Amplifier set-up. He has also been seen using a Blue fender p-bass, a natural Rickenbacker 4003, and used Gibson Thunderbirds for several years.
